ur second holiday kickback of the 2023 season invited us to lean into the small with easy comforts, sweets, and a safe, healing space.

With scones from Jeanine’s, pan dulce from La Bella Rosa bakery, and hot drinks by the Considered Coffee van, we created a stop at Pura Luna Apothecary for community on their Friday evening walks through Downtown Santa Barbara. And for good measure, we invited Vivian Storm and Angel D’Mon to help shape the vibe.

Unlike our previous holiday kickbacks, this was meant as a simple, caring space to treat ourselves to a little something sweet. Coffee culture and dessert means something to us, and spaces to take a small break from the world are disappearing. Judging by the 30-40 people who showed up — some to stay a while, some to just grab their treat and go — this, too, is something the community needed.
